Today, our local guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel, then take a scenic drive 15 km (haft an hour) to Amarapura, the former city of Burma. Upon arrival, visit the famous Buddhist Mahagandayon monastery where more than a thousand monks live and study. Every day, at 10 am, monks will line up for their meal, this is a wonderful moment to take memorable photos.
Then heading to the 200-year old U Bein Bridge, the world's longest teak bridge built in 1782 at the time when Amarapura was Royal capital. Highlight your trip to Amarapura with a visit to a traditional hand-woven silk workshop in the village near the bridge to gain insight into the local production. For centuries, the exquisite hand-made silk has made the region well-known to the world and become more appealing to tourists. Seeing the clever artisans sitting at their loom and creating the intricated textiles before moving to the next destination.
