Full Itinerary
Day 1: Mandalay Arrival – City Tour (D)
Being famous as the hub of Buddhism in Myanmar, Mandalay has a realm of stupas, monks, and monasteries. On arrival at Mandalay International Airport, we will be welcomed by our local guide and transferred to our hotel. After check-in, we will visit Mandalay Palace, Shwenandaw Monastery - noted for its exquisite woodcarvings, gold leaf beating workshop, and Kuthodaw Pagoda - known for containing the world’s largest book and conclude the tour by visiting Mandalay Hill to watch the sunset and the panoramic view of the city. In the evening, we will have a candlelit dinner with authentic Burma food. Overnight accommodation in Mandalay.
Day 2: Mandalay – Sagaing – Amarapura (B)
On this day tour, we leave the city for Sagaing Hill where we will learn about the schooling of monks, visit Budda Cave, Umin Thonze Pagoda, Sunooponnyashin Pagoda and finally take in the panoramic view of Mandalay.
Our next stop of this day tour is Amarapura, which is famous for Mahagandaryone Monastery and the best place to experience the daily lives of the monks in Mandalay. Enjoying our walking over U Bein Wooden Bridge, the longest teakwood bridge in the world. Overnight in Mandalay.
Day 3: Mandalay – Day Boat to Bagan (B)
After breakfast at the hotel, our car will transfer us to the jetty for the daily boat along the Irrawaddy River from Mandalay to Bagan. Arrive in Bagan in the late afternoon between 15:00 and 17:00 depending on the water level, we will transfer to the hotel in Bagan for check-in. The rest of the day will be free at leisure. Overnight in Bagan.
Day 4: Bagan – Mt. Popa – Bagan (B)
Leaving the beautiful Bagan temples behind, we begin the drive to Mt Popa. Join the pilgrims as they ascend Mt. Popa and admire the crazy statues that line the walkway, along with the monkeys that live on the mountain. Once at the peak, guests can relax and bask in the glorious views of Bagan. We then return to Bagan for a short cruise along the Irrawaddy River at sunset. We spend the night in a hotel in Bagan.
Day 5: Morning Balloon Ride over Bagan – Temple Tour (B)
Today, we will have a memorable day trip, and let’s say, it would be one of your special days in Myanmar. Pick up at our hotel in the early morning, before sunrise, we will have a hot balloon ride over Bagan. Amazed your eyes and took away your breath with the beauty and diversity of temples and stupas below you. With the Irrawaddy River to the west and the mountains to the east, the balloon ride will no double be your flight of a lifetime. After a 45-minute ride over the morning skies, the pilots will guide their crafts for a safe landing. Well, we will then have a small party to welcome you back with sparkling wine, and fresh fruits. After receiving the Balloon Certificate personally signed by the pilot, we will be driven back to the hotel for a proper breakfast.
We will then have an exotic horse cart ride, we will go to one of the biggest temples in Bagan: Nan Paya pagoda and many other interesting sites nearby.
In the late afternoon, fulfill your temple trip with a drive to the sunset hill where you can sit back and capture one of the world's most beautiful sunsets. Overnight in a hotel in Bagan.
Day 6: Bagan – Fly to Heho – Inle Lake (B)
After beautiful Bagan, we will take a flight to Heho. Inle Lake, the second largest lake in Myanmar is located 900 meters above sea level and is home to the Intha people, who are very famous for their one-leg-rowing technique.
On arrival, we take an hour's drive to the scenic Inle Lake and then board a motorboat for a sightseeing tour to Phaungdawoo Pagoda, famed for its richly gilded five small Buddha images and believed to be the holiest pagoda in Inle Lake. Our next stop of this day tour is “Jumping Cat Pagoda” Ngaphechaung Monastery. When we travel closer to Nam Pan Village, we have a look at cotton and lotus weaving factories and cigar-making houses. We will have a true experience of traditional Intha life. Overnight in a resort in Inle Lake.
Day 7: Inle Lake – Indein – Inle Lake (B)
In the morning, we will visit the unique “5-Day Market” which is held in different villages surrounding the lake. This is absolutely a magnificent place to enjoy the scene of local tribes in their colorful clothes and furthermore experience the exotic market atmosphere.
After lunch, the boat will take us to the beautiful temple of Indein, located on the hill overlooking the lake. It is time to enjoy a poetic walking along the corridors and the giant columns that have been left to nature for centuries. Overnight in Inle Lake.
Day 8: Inle Lake – Heho – Yangon (B)
After breakfast at the hotel, we will transfer to the airport for a morning flight to Yangon. On arrival, we will be driven to our hotel. The rest of the day will be free to recover. Overnight in Yangon.
Day 9: Yangon City Tour (B, D)
After breakfast at the hotel, we will visit the sacred Shwedagon pagoda – the most prominent monument in Yangon. Then we visit the Sule Pagoda to Chinese Town, where we have a chance to enjoy the exotic streets of Yangon downtown and British Colonial building as Emmanuel Church, Inland Water Buildings. We will then move to Kyaukhtatgyi Pagoda to see the 70-m long reclining Buddha and Myanmar’s holiest monument. Finally, finish up your day by enjoying some last-minute shopping at Scott Market.
This evening, we will have a special farewell dinner in Karaweik Palace which overlooks the Royal Lake and Shwedagon Tower. A meal of fine Burmese food will be served followed by a beautiful cultural show of music and dancing. We spend the last night in Yangon.
Day 10: Yangon Departure (B)
Time will be free until our car arrives to take us to the airport in Yangon at a good time for the homeward flight. Burma trip ends. Thank you for making your trip with Go Myanmar Tours!
