The Myanmar Tourism Federation (MTF) has set up a new oversee representative office in Tokyo, Japan. It is the second one following the first one opened in the US earlier this year.
Opening the representative office as a part in a series of activities and projects to attract more foreign tourists, especially Japanese visitors to Myanmar and support sustainable development. The chairman of Myanmar Tourism Marketing said: “By opening this office in Tokyo, we will promote Myanmar tourism through PDA’s services.” In addition, the Deputy Minister of Ministry of Hotels and Tourism Myanmar added: “MTF now has a mutual agreement with the Japanese Public Diplomacy Association (PDA) with an aim to encourage the growth of Japanese travelers to Myanmar”.
According to the statistic of MTF, international tourist arrivals from January to August this year reached nearly three million, a 50 percent growth over the same period last year. The rate of Japanese tourists increases by 12 percent so far this year.
