According to the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism, Bagan Region Tourism Development consists of 16 tasks which aim to promote Bagan tourism. 16 tasks will be divided into 3 types including raise tourism, meet the fundamental requirements and draw on human resources better. The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) plans to set up a Bagan tourism website, allowing visitors who are likely to prepare for a Bagan tour package can easily search for tourism information and to connect them with tour agencies in the region.
In the first nine months of 2015, there were more than 160,000 tourists to Bagan which considerably increased compared to those in 2014. The figure is expected to grow if 16 tasks are properly implemented, said Khin Maung Kyi, director of the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism.
Customized excursions bring guests to nearby cultural and natural attractions, such as nature reserves, volcanoes, and cultural sites. In developing these excursions, we wanted to create a one-of-a-kind travel experience and support the development of new tourism destinations.
