May is the first month of the rainy season in Myanmar when things still heat up as the temperature remains very hot as the mercury reports frankly unnatural figures at times. However, there can be some pockets of incredible weather. If you are sun worshippers, this month is the incredibly perfect time to visit Myanmar as temperatures are expected to dip a little towards the end of the month (monthly range from 32 - 38°C).
The chance of heavy rain is very high, so you can expect showers in many parts and it is likely. Unlike other regions in Myanmar, the central plains to the south of Mandalay remain dry and with astronomical temperatures touching 40’°C at times. Although the wet season in Myanmar usually falls from mid-May, the beaches still remain hot and dry, with resorts battening down the hatches in preparation for the less favorable weather in the coming months.
