The major role in the Nat Pwe (Performance of Nat dance) is usually led by a Nat-Kadaw (a wife of Nat). Moreover a Nat-Kadaw might probably be both sexes either female or gay. She will obey the commands of the Nat by whom she was possessed and whom she honours as consort and servant. She will usually do for that Nat and often for others as well. The devotees join the dance, spraying pefume over the Nat-Kadaw, offer money respectfully extending both hands, sharing U Min Kyaw’s Liquor and making other offerings of edible foodstuff. On-lookers are gathered and to placate the spirit and to enjoy themselves.
The Nat-Kadaw act out the ceremony, submitted to the demands of their celestial spouses, thereby advising the followers on financial and marital matters. Almost every village has one or more available Nat-Kadaw usually working in the fields or in the home.
