Full Itinerary
Day 1: Mandalay Arrival
Arrive in Mandalay. After checking at your hotel, visit the last royal palace of the Konbaung dynasty and recount the days of Thibaw and his queen, Supayalat, before they were expelled by the British into India. Visit the ancient Mahamuni Pagoda and then conquer 1729 steps to reach Mandalay Hill and admire the glorious sunset over the city.
Day 2-3: Myitkyina
Depart from Mandalay in the morning for the Kachin capital, Myitkyina, a melting point of the ethnic groups in the north of Myanmar - as well as people from further afield, such as the city’s large Gurkha community. The town’s Strand Road is a bustling hub of activity with a colorful riverside market to explore during the day and finish off with a drink and a meal at one of Myitkyina’s riverside restaurants.
Spend the next day exploring the town further and heading upriver to the scenic confluence of the Malikha and Maykah rivers at Myitsone, where the mighty Irrawaddy River begins.
Day 4: Mandalay To Bagan By Boat
Start the day by transferring from Mandalay to Bagan, and in the early morning, the weather can be quite chilly so make sure to bring some warmer gear. Enjoy breakfast on the boat and make sure to bring your camera to capture not only stunning Irrawaddy riverside scenes but also your beautiful moment there. There are some quieter stretches on the water so this is a perfect time to catch up on some reading or write those postcards to people back home. Arrive in Bagan in time for one of its famously stunning sunsets.
Day 5-8: Mount Victoria & Nat Ma Taung National Park
Take 8 hours from the west of Bagan to the small Chin mountain town of Kanpetlet and take a relaxing walk around the simple dwelling-house and churches of the peaceful area; you will enjoy a memorable time while staying at one of the most lovely eco-lodges in the mountain.
The next day will focus on climbing Mount Victoria as known as Nat Ma Taung or Khonuamthung, catching the magnificent mountain vistas and plenty of exotic flora on the way.
The next stop is Mindat, dramatically perched on a mountain ridge. Here, you will catch the chance to interact with members of the primitive Dai, Upu, and Ya tribes who are famous for their identical tradition - distinctive full facial tattoos. Next, you will spend time visiting the local market and mountainside villages and then come back to Bagan to discover some more temples and enjoy some traditional Burmese wine over dinner.
Day 9: Yangon Tour
Fly south to the bustling commercial capital of Myanmar - Yangon. Going on Yangon tour, you will explore its iconic pagodas, colonial-era streets, and new art galleries and have a look around Bogyoke Market for those last-minute presents. (Note: the market is closed on Mondays and gazette holidays)
Day 10: Yangon Departure
Morning is your leisure to explore the beauty of Yangon. Tour ends. We hope you will love the itinerary we offer for this 10-day Myanmar tour. Thank you for traveling with us!
