Full Itinerary
Day 1: Mandalay Arrival – Mandalay Palace
Welcome upon arrival at Mandalay International Airport, we will transfer to the hotel. After a short rest, we will visit Mandalay Palace, Shwenandaw Monastery – noted for its exquisite woodcarvings, gold leaf beating workshop, and Kuthodaw Pagoda – known for containing the world’s largest book and conclude the tour by visiting Mandalay Hill to watch the sunset and the panoramic view of the city. Overnight in Mandalay.
Day 2: Mandalay – Sagaing – Amarapura (B)
After breakfast, we leave the city for Sagaing Hill where we will learn about the schooling of monks, visit Buddha Cave, Umin Thonze Pagoda, Sunooponnyashin Pagoda and finally, take in the panoramic view of Mandalay.
Our next stop on this day tour is Amarapura, famous for Mahagandaryone Monastery and this is also the best place to experience the daily lives of the monks in Mandalay. After that, we will walk over the U Bein Wooden Bridge, the longest teakwood of its type to Mahamuni Image – a bronze Buddha image castled during the lifetime of Buddha himself. Day 3: Mandalay – Day boat to Bagan (B)
Early in the morning, our car will transfer us to the jetty for the daily boat along the Irrawaddy River from Mandalay to Bagan – Myanmar’s archaeological wonderland, where over 3,000 ancient temples blossom from the countryside.
Arrive in Bagan in the late afternoon between 15:00 and 17:00 depending on the water level. Get picked up from the jetty and transfer to the hotel in Bagan for check-in. the rest of the day will be free. Overnight in Bagan.
Day 4: Bagan Sightseeing (B)
We will first visit the bustling Nyang U Market in Old Bagan then discover the beautiful gold leaf Shwezigon Pagoda and learn about Burmese Buddhist traditions. The next visit is Ananda Temple, en-route we will stop at Bagan plains to admire some of the surrounding temples.
In the afternoon, we will take a tour of a local lacquerware workshop and learn how this traditional piece of art is made. Later on, follow your guide to the sunset hill to sit back and enjoy one of the best sunsets over the magnificent pagodas of Bagan. Overnight in Bagan.
Day 5: Bagan – Mt. Popa – Bagan (B)
Leaving the beautiful Bagan temples behind, we begin the drive to Mt Popa. It is time to join in pilgrims as they ascend Mt. Popa and admire the crazy statues that line the walkway, along with the monkeys that live on the mountain. Once at the peak, guests can relax and bask in the glorious views of Bagan. Then, we take a short time cruise returning to Bagan on the Irrawaddy River at sunset. Overnight in Bagan.
Day 6: Bagan discovery – Fly to Yangon (B)
After breakfast, we start with an exotic horse cart ride to Nan Paya Pagoda, which is one of the biggest temples in Bagan and many other amazing attractions surrounded. Besides, we continue our day tour with sightseeing at Minkaba Gubyaukyi Temple, take note of the architectural difference in MyaZedi Pagoda before heading to Manuha Temple.
We will then take the late afternoon flight to Yangon. On arrival, we will be welcomed and transferred to the hotel for overnight accommodation. Overnight in Yangon.
Day 7: Yangon city tour (B, D)
We spend a full day exploring the former capital Yangon and its highlights from Sule Pagoda, in the heart of Yangon city; Chaukhtayi Pagoda, and Kandawgyi Lake. After our lunchtime, we discover Shwedagon Pagoda, which is considered the most outstanding pagoda in Yangon. The “Golden Pagoda” is really a must-see while we are in Myanmar. Enjoy some shopping in the bustling Scott market. (Note: the market is closed on Mondays and gazette holidays)
The most amazing thing for this evening is our dinner in Karaweik Palace, overlooking the Royal Lake and Shwedagon Tower. Fine Burmese food and a beautiful cultural show of music and dancing are fantastic ingredients for our dinner. Overnight in Yangon.
Day 8: Yangon Departure
Time will be free until our car arrives to take us to Yangon International Airport for our departure flight. Tour ends.
