It also was a place that gives inspiration for Rudyard Kipling to compose his famous poem Mandalay.
Day 6: Mawlamyine To Dawei
Drive a car to Dawei, along the way you will stop at the Allied War Memorial Cemetery in Thanbyuzayat – a historical site where prisoners stayed during the building of the infamous Burma Railway (or ‘Death Railway’). You can also explore the point that highlights the end of the railway, memorized with an old steam locomotive.

Thanks to the fast boats southward to Myeik, you will have plenty of time to discover this lively fascinating place. The bustling and strange port, winding streets create a lovely atmosphere for the town – and you can enjoy local, fresh seafood that clearly shows the combination of Thai-Myanmar cuisine.
