Full Itinerary
Day 1: Mandalay Arrival (D)
On arrival at Mandalay International Airport, we will be welcomed by our local guide and transferred to the hotel. Mandalay, is a city founded in 1857 as the capital by King Mindon. After a short rest, we become acquainted with our bikes during the 2-hour visit to Mandalay Palace with finely built regal walls and a beautiful moat surrounding her fortress.
In the evening, we will have a welcome dinner in a nice local restaurant with fine Burma food. Overnight in Mandalay.
Biking route: 6km
Day 2: Mandalay – Mingun – Amarapura (B)
After breakfast, we begin our day tour by taking a short ride to the river where the boat is available to take us to Mingun. Our route follows the Irrawaddy River all the way and there’ll be plenty of photo ops. In Mingun, we’ll visit the ruins of Pahtodawgyi and see the 90 tons Mingun Bell. After lunchtime, a boat takes us downstream to Mandalay.
Later in the afternoon, we bike to Amarapura, the ancient capital of the Konbaung Dynasty, and the U Bein Bridge, the world’s longest Teakwood Bridge (1208 meters long). To marvel at the incredible panorama of the bridge, let's take a boat trip and sail around the serene lake of Taungthaman to capture the stunning view at sunset. After that, a support van will take us back to the hotel in Mandalay.
Biking route: 20 – 40 km
Day 3: Mandalay – Monywa (B)
On this day tour, we drive about an hour to the small town of Myin-Mu and start our ride to the non-touristy town of Monywa. This is a pleasant ride on a tarmac road with little traffic as we cycle through the Chindwin Valley. From Monywa we visit Po Win Taung Cave before heading to our hotel. Overnight in Monywa.
Biking route: 20 – 73 km
Day 4: Monywa – Bagan (B)
On this fourth day of Myanmar Biking, we start in Nyaung Pin Gyi. The scenery is varied and the roads flat as we ride toward the Irrawaddy River; there are plenty of villages to visit and opportunities to interact with locals. After lunch in Pakkoku, we’ll have a relaxing afternoon as we boat to Bagan. We spend the night in a hotel in Bagan.
Biking route: 30 – 70 km
Day 5: Bagan Discovery (B)
Bicycles are the perfect way to explore the temples of Bagan. We take a morning ride around the Archaeological Zone before returning for a dip in the pool. The sunset, with views across the plains studded with chedis and temples, is your unforgettable memory.
Biking route: 10 – 30 km
Day 6: Bagan – Mt. Popa (B)
Along the highway to the east, we are transferred by bus up to Mt Popa. As we climb the almost 900 stairs to the top of Popa Taung Kalat, we will pass dozens of nat (spirit) shrines and see pilgrims who come to honor the spirits. After our visit, we begin biking downhill to Bagan through villages and quiet lanes. We spend the night in a hotel in Bagan.
Biking route: 10 – 30 km
Day 7: Bagan – Fly to Yangon (B)
After breakfast at the hotel, we transfer to Nyaung U Airport and take a flight back to the former capital Yangon. We’ll get transferred by car back to the city center of Yangon. After checking in at the hotel, we take a short walking tour through two fabulously diverse and vibrant neighborhoods of Yangon, which are Chinatown and Little India. We will see street markets, snack vendors, and many places of worship as we walk along the street.
In the afternoon, we stop at Bogyoke Market, known as Scott’s Market (Closed on Mondays and Public Holidays), to browse through the dozens of stalls and shops. This is Yangon’s best market for handicrafts and other goods. (Note: the market is closed on Mondays and the gazette holidays). From here, we continue to Shwedagon Pagoda the most revered Buddhist temple in Myanmar. Enjoy breathtaking views of the golden stupa from this vantage point. We spend the night in Yangon.
Day 8: Yangon Departure (B)
Free time until our driver arrives to take us to Yangon International Airport for our flight back home. Tour ends. We hope that you love the itinerary we design for 8-day Burma tour. Thank you for making your trip with Go Myanmar Tours!
