Full Itinerary
Day 1: Yangon Arrival (D)
Welcome upon arrival at Yangon International Airport, we will transfer to the hotel in Yangon. This evening, enjoy a Welcome dinner in Karaweik Palace with fine Burmese food and an amazing cultural show. Overnight in Yangon.
Day 2: Yangon city tour (B)
Today, we continue visiting this former capital city. We first visit the Sule Pagoda, in the heart of Yangon city; Chauk Htat Gyi Pagoda, and Kandawgyi Lake. After lunch, we discover the most outstanding pagoda in Yangon: Shwedagon Pagoda. The “Golden Pagoda” is really a must-see while we are in Myanmar. We will finish our day with free time for shopping in the bustling Scott market. (Note: the market is closed on Mondays and the gazette holidays). Overnight in Yangon.
Day 3: Yangon – Fly to Bagan (B)
Today we have an early morning and direct flight to Bagan. Bagan is Myanmar’s archaeological wonderland, where over 3,000 ancient temples blossom from the countryside. On arrival, we will be welcomed and driven to visit the bustling Nyaung U Market in Old Bagan then explore the beautiful gold-leaf Shwezigon Pagoda and learn about Burmese Buddhist traditions.
Ananda Temple is our next visit of this day tour, stopping along the way on the Bagan plains to admire some of the surrounding temples. In the afternoon, take a tour of a local lacquerware workshop and learn how this traditional piece of art is made. Overnight in a hotel in Bagan.
Day 4: Bagan – Mt. Popa – Bagan (B)
Leaving the Bagan temples behind, we begin the drive to Mt Popa. Join the pilgrims as they ascend Mt. Popa and admire the crazy statues that line the walkway, along with the monkeys that live on the mountain. Once at the peak, guests can relax and bask in the glorious views of Bagan. We then return to Bagan for a short cruise along the Irrawaddy River at sunset before going back to the hotel for overnight accommodation.
Day 5: Bagan Sightseeing (B)
After breakfast, we start our day tour with an exotic horse cart ride to one of the biggest temples in Bagan: Nan Paya Pagoda, and many other interesting sites nearby. We then continue with sightseeing at Myinkaba Gubyau Gyi Temple, and take note of the architectural difference in MyaZedi Pagoda before heading to Manuha Temple.
End of the day, highlight your trip with a drive to the sunset hill to sit back and marvel at the panoramic sunset view over the magnificent pagodas of Bagan. Overnight in a hotel in Bagan.
Day 6: Bagan – Heho – Pindaya Cave – Inle Lake (B)
Today, we will take the late morning flight to Heho. On arrival, we will be welcomed and driven to Pindaya. This is home to the famous cave with thousands of Buddha statues and religious tales that we will surely be impressed with this. After that, we drive to NaungShwe Jetty and a short boat ride to our resort. Check-in and have the rest of the day enjoying the sunset view on Inle Lake. Overnight in a hotel in Inle Lake.
Day 7: Inle Lake Discovery (B)
Inle Lake, the second largest lake in Myanmar is located 900 meters above sea level and is home to the Intha people, famous for their one-leg-rowing technique. Upon arrival, we board a motorboat for a sightseeing tour to Phaungdawoo Pagoda, famed for its richly gilded five small Buddha images and believed to be the holiest pagoda in Inle Lake.
Our next stop is, “Jumping Cat Pagoda” at Ngaphechaung Monastery. As we travel closer to Nam Pan Village, we have a look at cotton and lotus weaving factories and cigar-making houses. These sites will give us a true sense of traditional Intha life. We spend the second night in Inle Lake.
Day 8: Inle – Kakku – Inle Lake (B)
The morning of the 8th day in your Myanmar itinerary 14 days starts with a scenic drive to Kakku. A short boat ride to Naung Shwe before getting in our private car for a 2-hour drive to Kakku. Stop at TaungGyi for a short visit en route then head into the rolling hills toward the east of the lake. The drive is spectacular, crossing over the railway line and through small villages inhabited by the Pa-Oh people. This area was closed to visitors for many years and even now only a few intrepid tourists make their way through here.
The view of Kakku is breathtaking: there are more than 5200 individual stupas, some of which are 20 meters high, and several Buddha images scattered throughout. Wander throughout the temples, taking our time to enjoy the wonder and awe of this site and discover the intricate carvings and details on the structures. Late afternoon, we will be back in Inle Lake for overnight accommodation.
Day 9: Inle Lake – Indein – Inle Lake (B)
This morning, we will visit the unique “5 Day Market” which is held in different villages surrounding the lake. This is absolutely a magnificent place to enjoy the scene of local tribes in their colorful clothes and experience an exotic market atmosphere.
After lunchtime, the boat will take us to the beautiful temple of Indein, located on the hill overlooking the lake. It is relaxing to walk along the corridors and enjoy the giant columns that have been left to nature for centuries. In the late afternoon, we will back to Inle Lake for overnight accommodation.
Day 10: Heho – Ngapali Beach (B)
After breakfast, we will be driven to the airport to catch a flight from Heho to Thandwe. It is time to immerse in the pristine waters of Ngapali Beach and the beautiful green coconut groves. It’s your time to relax and enjoy yourself. Overnight at Ngapali beach.
Day 11: Ngapali Beach (B)
Time will be free to relax on the sandy beach of Ngapali.
Day 12: Ngapali Beach (B)
Time will be free to relax on the sandy beach of Ngapali.
Day 13: Ngapali Beach – Yangon (B)
Time will be free until our car arrives to take you to the airport to board the afternoon flight to Yangon. On arrival, we will transfer to the hotel for overnight accommodation.
Day 14: Yangon Departure (B)
