Full Itinerary
Day 1: Yangon Arrival (D)
Welcomed upon arrival at Yangon International Airport, we will be driven to our hotel. The rest of the day will be free to recover. This evening, we will have a Welcome dinner in Karaweik Palace which overlooks to the Royal Lake and Shwedagon Tower. A meal of fine Burmese food will be served followed by a beautiful cultural show of music and dancing. Overnight in Yangon.
Day 2: Yangon Sightseeing (B)
After breakfast at the hotel, we will visit the sacred Shwedagon pagoda – the most prominent monument in Yangon which is said to be home to the Buddha relics. From here take a drive to the Sule Pagoda - one of the oldest pagodas in Myanmar dating back to approximately 2500 years ago.
We then visit the hectic Chinese Town to enjoy the exotic streets of Yangon downtown and British Colonial building as Emmanuel Church, and Inland Water Buildings. Finally, move to Chauk Htat Gyi Pagoda to see the 70-m long reclining Buddha and Myanmar’s holiest monument. We spend the night in Yangon.
Day 3: Yangon – Bagan Discovery (B)
After an early breakfast at the hotel, board a morning flight direct flight from Yangon to Bagan – Myanmar’s archeological wonderland, where over 3,000 ancient temples blossom from the countryside.
Welcome upon arrival with a visit to the busy Nyang U Market in Old Bagan where you will capture the first glimpse at the daily life of the local people and an array of local products, flowers, and vegetables. Proceed to the beautiful gold-leaf Shwezigon pagoda and learn new things from the Burmese Buddhist tradition.
We continuously visit Ananda temple and we will stop along the way in the Bagan plain to admire some of the surrounding temples. This afternoon, we take a tour of a local lacquer wear workshop and learn about this traditional craft. Overnight in Bagan.
Day 4: Bagan – Mt. Popa – Bagan (B)
After breakfast, we enjoy a scenic drive to Mt. Popa, which is the most sacred site for meditation in Myanmar. Our experienced tour guide will lead us to Popa Kalat Monastery where we see Popa National Park with its beautiful panorama view. On the way back to Bagan, we will experience traditional palm work, cigar making, and peanut oil distillation. We spend the night in Bagan.
Day 5: Bagan Sightseeing (B)
This morning, we will have an exotic horse cart ride, we will go to one of the biggest temples in Bagan: Nan Paya pagoda, and many other interesting sites nearby, continue our sightseeing trip to Minkaba Gubyaukyi Temple, experience the architectural difference in MyaZedi pagoda before heading to Manuha Temple. The most amazing bonus of this day trip is the panoramic sunset view from the second-highest pagoda of Bagan the ShweSandaw pagoda. Overnight in a hotel in Bagan.
Day 6: Bagan – Fly to Heho – Pindaya – Kalaw (B)
After breakfast at the hotel, we will transfer to the airport for a morning flight to Heho. On arrival, we will take a nice drive to Pindaya through the picturesque countryside of Shan State.
Our next visit on this day tour is Pindaya’s limestone cave with its maze of chambers displaying more than 8,000 Buddha statues and local handicraft workshops producing Shan paper made from mulberry bark and traditional umbrellas made from the same paper that is used by monks all around the country. Then drive back to Kalaw. Overnight in a hotel in Kalaw.
Day 7: Kalaw – Inle Lake Discovery (B)
After breakfast, we will visit the unique “5 days market” in Kalaw. This is absolutely a magnificent place to enjoy the scene of local tribes in their colorful clothes and experience the exotic market atmosphere.
After that, we take a drive to Inle Lake. On arrival, we transfer to the jetty to board a motorboat for a sightseeing tour to Nam Pan village where you will spend the time learning about the local canoe carving and cigar making. The boat will take us to the beautiful temple of Indein, located on the hill overlooking the lake. It will be definitely relaxing to walk along the corridor and enjoy the giant columns which have been left to nature for centuries.
Visit Phaungdawoo Pagoda, famed for its richly gilded five small Buddha images, which also is believed the holiest in Inle Lake. Our next visit is to the Ngaphechaung monastery to marvel at the collection of many impressive Budha images and also known as the jumping cat pagoda. Overnight in Inle Lake.
Day 8: Inle Lake – Kakku (B)
Today, we depart for a drive to Kakku crossing through the spectacular landscape, railway line, and small villages inhabited by the Pa-Oh people. Our first touch of Kakku is breathtaking: there are more than 5200 individual stupas, some of which are 20 meters high, and several Buddha images scattered throughout. In the late afternoon, we will come back to Inle Lake where we will spend the night.
Day 9: Inle Lake – Yangon – Departure (B)
Free time until our car arrives to take us to the airport for a morning flight back to Yangon. On arrival, we will be free in good time to connect the homeward flight. Your Myanmar tour ends.
